The farm is located in the heart of Garfagnana in the Tuscan province of Lucca, 350 m above the sea level, sorrounded by chestnuts and acaciaa woods, with a wonderful sight on the Apuan Alps and Omo Morto (Dead Man) chain.
The climate is almost continental, mitigated by the Tirrenian Sea vicinity. Its position between the high chains of Apuan Alps and Appennins and the sea vicinity grant a costant ventilation that mitigates the muggy in the summer and the freezing cold in the winter, when the snow often covers the mountains.
Some hundreds metres far from the ancient village of Cerretoli and Monte Alfonso fortress and less than 2 miles from the medieval town of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, all along the valley capital.
The farm was fully operational from its building, around the first half of 1800, until the sevnties; then the farming has been continued in amateur form, not for business or living.
Nowadays there are several farm animals in their pen, approchable on demand, and some beehives. At the end of nineties, united all the farm under an exclusive ownership, started the renovation of the house, decadent at that time.
Today 4 double bedrooms and 2 separate flats are available, all of them with their private bathroom and with some common premises as large terrace, a swimming pool of 70 sq.m.,an oven made of stones, a playground for children and a parking.
The renovation has respected and mantained the ancient and rural style of the house, bringing out the stones in the bearing walls and the wood in the roof. Frames and furnitures reflect this stule too and, going inside, it seems to leap back some tens years.
At this cultural and architectural heritage recovery, an offer of up to date devices has been coupled, useful to a confortable and peaceful holiday for adults (domestic appliances, guide to local services and touristic destinations) and to the amusement of children and teenagers (swimming pool, satellite TV, playground, guide to local entertainments).
The farm is operational all year around.
